Today, Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez announced his support of Congressman Mike Honda in his bid for re-election. Speaker Emeritus Pérez joins Speaker Toni Atkins, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Assemblymember Evan Low, Assemblymember David Chiu, Assemblymember Rob Bonta and others in supporting Congressman Honda.

Speaker Emeritus Pérez served in the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2014 and assumed the Speakership in 2010. Speaker Emeritus Pérez now serves as a regent to the University of California. "I am proud to endorse Mike Honda for Congress. Throughout his time in office, he has been a thoughtful and effective leader, with a distinguished track record of bringing both parties together to find solutions for the very difficult challenges facing our country," said Speaker Emeritus Pérez. "Our state is lucky to have such a phenomenal representative like Mike fighting for us in Congress and I am proud to call him my friend."
