Issue Position: Justice in our Democratic Process

Issue Position

-Strengthening the Voting Rights Act -- Recently, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the landmark Voting Rights Act, yet there are still attacks on voters' rights that keep 21 million Americans from voting. States still wind back the clock and systematically disenfranchise voters of color, and we need action now to strengthen the VRA and expand access to the right to vote for all Americans with same day registration and a national holiday for elections.

-Ending Citizens United -- When corporations and billionaires are free to flood campaigns with millions of dollars, it drowns the voices of real Americans and fuels generation of leaders more accountable to special interests than constituents. We need to overturn Citizens United and make sure that Congress is working for the American people again.

-Ending rigged elections -- Gerrymandering is ruining our democracy, and we must implement fair redistricting processes and bring them to the top of our national agenda to restore the faith of voters in our democratic process. The lack of competitiveness in our elections is crippling Congress from solving the most pressing issues we face as a nation, and we need rapid national action to eliminate the toxic effects of rigged elections.
