Issue Position: Strong Fiscal Discipline to Put Taxpayers First

Issue Position

Opposed broad-based tax increases that unfairly targeted Monroe and Pike Counties without providing property tax elimination, and instead worked to control costs and focus state spending on our priorities.

Fighting for real property tax relief by supporting the Property Tax Independence Act, voting for a school funding formula that provides more for our community, supporting initiatives that help cut costs for local governments and schools, and passing a law that gives homeowners a stronger voice in controlling property taxes.

Working for smart, fair public pension reform that will save taxpayers billions of dollars in the long-term by placing new hires and legislators into a 401(k) type system while still keeping our promise to current retirees and enrollees.

Limit any government spending increases to less than the rate of inflation.

Eliminate unfunded mandates to reduce costs at the school, county and municipal levels.
