Today, Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted in favor of H. Res. 658, a bipartisan resolution that condemns the terrorist attacks that occurred in Brussels on Tuesday, which resulted in the deaths of more than 30 innocent people and wounded 230. The resolution passed unanimously on the House floor.

H. Res 658 condemns "in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in Brussels" and "pledges support for the Government of Belgium in its efforts to bring to justice all those involved with the planning and execution of these terrorist attacks." The resolution goes on to further declare "that ISIS poses a fundamental threat to the universal value of freedom in all countries" and resolves that the House of Representatives "remains concerned with the flow of foreign fighters to and from the Middle East and West and North Africa and the threat posed by these individuals."

Cook said, "What we saw in Brussels yesterday was horrifying. Today, the House of Representatives stood with the people of Belgium and against terror. Belgium has been an ally in our war against terror, and we must continue to support them as they face this latest threat. These attacks demonstrate the real dangers of an unchecked, out-of-control surge of refugees across Europe. We must stand firm against the flow of unvetted and inadequately screened refugees to America and put safety first. The first duty of our government is to keep us safe, and as long as there are terrorists hiding among refugees, we can't bring them to America."
