Issue Position: Jobs and Economic Recovery

Issue Position

As State Representative, Tim Brown was a joint sponsor of HB 2. The law requires all applicants for unemployment insurance to register with OhioMeansJobs.com prior to applying for benefits. The requirements will ensure that unemployment insurance applicants and recipients are maximizing their job search opportunities and will help connect them to new services from the state. One result of the law will be that those who have lost their jobs will be quickly familiarized with those on the front lines helping our fellow citizens find the tools, skills, improvements and training that are necessary to obtain employment. An additional aspect of the law will ensure that applicants receive a weekly listing of available jobs based on specific information provided by the applicant. This means unemployed individuals will receive an email on a constant basis about job opportunities relevant to their background and experience. Our work to help our fellow citizens is a top priority as we continue to push for economic recovery and job growth in our state.

As a County Commissioner, Tim Brown worked hard to attract hundreds of new jobs and over $400 million in business investments - a record of success that he took to Columbus as our new state representative. From industrial, to transportation, to alternative energy, medical, and retail, Wood County is experiencing growth in good-paying jobs and showing the rest of the country how to beat a recession. While we have much to be proud of in Wood County, work remains to be done in improving our economy. Priority one in Columbus is policy that creates a tax friendly environment for our hardworking families and small businesses and removes useless over burdensome government regulations. We need to return health to our communities for the benefit of all of our citizens!

During Tim's public service, he has worked across the aisle at the local, state, and federal level to create and retain jobs in our communities. Tim's dedication to growing Wood County's economy with good paying jobs has been the cornerstone of his time in service and he has continued that philosophy in Columbus. Tim has the bi-partisan work experience to advance our county's economy and put our citizens first. He has already forged important working relationships with officials in our State Capitol and is already making a difference. We need to keep Tim Brown's experience working for us in Columbus!
