John Kline Statement

Statement

Date: Nov. 19, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Minnesota Congressman John Kline issued the following statement today after supporting legislation he co-sponsored which passed the U.S. House of Representatives that would put in place the most robust national-security vetting process in history for any refugee population. H.R. 4038 gives the American people the assurances needed that we will do everything possible to prevent terrorists from reaching our shores:

"In the wake of ISIS attacks on three continents this month and reports that at least one of the terrorists in Paris posed as a refugee from Syria to gain entry into France, this legislation ensures our intelligence officials unanimously certify an individual does not represent a security threat before they enter America. The United States has a long tradition of welcoming refugees and providing assistance, but we also need to do everything we can to keep Americans safe."
