Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after co-sponsoring several pieces of legislation to support Israel and its sovereignty. These new co-sponsorships build upon previous co-sponsorships to reaffirm the United States' commitment to Israel, and ensure its safety in the Middle East.

"I have a growing concern that the Iranian nuclear agreement does not ensure the safety of Israel, our allies in the Middle East, or the United states. In response, I recently I co-sponsored legislation that protects Israel against attacks from Iran or Palestine, including H. Res 500, pledging support that Israel has the right to defend itself against Iranian hostility, and H. Con Res 96, condemning Palestinian violence against Israel while encouraging cooperation between the two nations.

"It is critical to our national interests to continue to foster and strengthen our relationship with Israel. Since it's founding in 1948, Israel has been one of America's closest and most important allies. I am honored to have the opportunity to champion policies that advance and strengthen that friendship."

These co-sponsorships build upon several other pieces of pro-Israel legislation including H. Con Res 62, a resolution expressing Congressional support that the American embassy should be relocated to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, and H.R. 2297, the Hizballah International Financing Prevention Act, which became law on December 12, 2015.
