Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of H.R. 22, the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, a bipartisan, bicameral 5-year surface transportation authorization bill.

"The House has finally put an end to the decade-long practice of passing only short-term highway bill extensions which fail to give states and localities the ability to plan for current and future transportation projects. The FAST Act ensures states have the certainty to invest in projects to improve our roads and bridges, provides states additional flexibility with federal resources and streamlines the project approval process.

H.R. 22 also includes language championed by Congressman Guthrie and included in the House-passed Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015which designates the William H. Natcher Parkway as a future I-65 spur. Guthrie led Kentucky's federal delegation to ensure this provision was in the final agreement.

"I am pleased this legislation designates the Natcher Parkway as a future I-65 spur. I believe this designation will open the door to many economic opportunities for Western Kentucky and I look forward to continuing to work with state and local leaders to see this through to the finish line," said Congressman Guthrie.
