Rep. Stewart's Statement on the Rejection of the Keystone Pipeline Project

Statement

Date: Nov. 6, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) released the following statement regarding President Obama's announcement that the administration has rejected the proposal for the Keystone XL pipeline. This project, which has been under review for seven years, would bring crude oil from Alberta, Canada to the gulf coast.

"It's absurd that the White House has rejected the Keystone XL pipeline project," Stewart said. "Numerous environmental studies have been conducted by the President's own State Department, and all have concluded that this project is safe and will not have significant environmental impacts."

"While I'm not surprised, it's unfortunate that this President is establishing a pattern of playing politics with our energy development and economy."
