Hoyer Statement on North Korean Missile Launch

Statement

Date: Feb. 7, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after North Korea performed a launch using ballistic missile technology:

"This latest action by North Korea adds to the evidence that the Kim regime is intent on building missile systems that could launch a nuclear attack against our allies in the region or even the United States homeland. The international community must stand united in demanding that North Korea abandon its pursuit of advanced ballistic missile and space technology, and I urge the United Nations Security Council to complete work on resolutions to that effect without delay. The United States will continue to defend our Korean and Japanese allies against the Kim regime's aggression, and I hope China will join us in playing a constructive role in preventing North Korea from destabilizing the region."
