Today, it was announced that Shawn Wegmann, an American fugitive, has been returned to the U.S. after fleeing to Cuba. Rep. Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) released the following statement:

"I am pleased to learn that Shawn Wegmann, an American citizen and alleged enforcer for a motorcycle gang, has been repatriated back to the United States to face American justice after trying to find sanctuary in Cuba.

While this is an encouraging development, the Castro dictatorship continues to provide safe-harbor to many more terrorists and fugitives convicted of murdering Americans and law enforcement officers. Also, many Medicare, credit card and mortgage fraudsters have avoided American prosecution by jumping bail and fleeing back to Cuba.

I call on the Obama Administration to demand the Castro dictatorship turn over these criminals to ensure that justice, no matter how long it takes, shall always prevail."
