Congresswoman Hahn Releases Statement Regarding President Obama's Address on Terrorism

Statement

Date: Dec. 6, 2015
Location: San Pedro, CA

Tonight, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) released the following statement on the President's address to the nation regarding terrorist attacks and defeating ISIS:

"Tonight President Obama addressed the nation just days after two people shot and killed 14 innocent Americans in San Bernardino. We now know that the perpetrators had become radicalized and we must as a nation take steps to prevent these types of terror attacks. The President is right -- Congress should act immediately to make sure that no one on the no-fly list can buy a gun and I will continue to press my colleagues on this issue. I appreciate that the President has instructed the Department of Homeland Security to review the visa waiver under which one of the terrorists originally came to this country.

The President reiterated his plan to defeat ISIS making one point very clear: the Muslim community is not an enemy but a chief ally and asset in this fight. Hatred and discrimination against Islam and those who practice it are counterproductive and go against our values as Americans. I appreciate the President's strong message on this point and what it says about our strength as a nation."
