Yoho Responds to President Obama's Budget Proposal

Statement

Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) released the following statement in response to President Obama's 2017 budget request:

"Once again, President Obama has presented a budget that doesn't balance. It also raises taxes by $3.4 trillion over ten years and increases spending to the tune of $2.5 trillion dollars. I think it is interesting the president submitted his proposal while the American people have their gaze fixed on the news in New Hampshire. That being said, I am grateful this is the last time Congress will receive - what amounts to -- a blueprint from President Obama for increasing the size of our government and our national debt.

"This budget proposal does nothing to curb Washington's out of control spending, create good paying jobs, or seriously tackle a colossal national debt that will surely sink us all. We must face the runaway spending freight train that is Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. These programs must be reformed to preserve their solvency and to ensure they will remain for those who currently depend upon them and for future generations.

"The Republican Congress will soon put forth our own vision for America. A vision that will focus on making our economy stronger, increasing opportunity for all, tackling our national debt, strengthening our national security, and preserving health and retirement programs for millions of Americans. I, along with my Republican colleagues, am focused on introducing a budget that makes America strong at home and abroad. It is time to rebuild America."
