Governor McCrory Announces Sale of Heck-Andrews House as Part of Project Phoenix Initiative

Governor Pat McCrory announced today the state has accepted a $1.5 million offer on the 147-year-old Heck-Andrews House, a result of the governor's Project Phoenix revitalization program. The sale will be considered for final approval by the Council of State next Tuesday.

"The sale of the Heck-Andrews House will return this historic home to its original beauty and this unique architecture will be preserved for generations to come," Governor McCrory said. "Bringing the Heck-Andrews House back to life is a perfect example of Project Phoenix's mission, which is to return underutilized state properties to more productive and efficient use."

Governor McCrory also announced that the state plans to sell several other historic Blount Street houses in the next phase of Project Phoenix. The homes to be listed on the market include the Heartt House, the Andrews-Duncan House, the McGee House and the Higgs-Coble-Helms House. In September, the historic Bailey-Tucker House was also listed for sale.
