Issue Position

High Standards -- In order for the Alabama workforce to remain competitive in the global marketplace, we must maintain high standards in education. I believe that Alabama schools should uphold high educational standards with the aim of graduating students who are equipped to succeed in whatever vocation they choose. Of course we want high graduation rates, but we also want to graduate students who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to successfully complete college or learn a trade.

While high standards are crucial, I am unequivocally opposed to any involvement by the federal government in Alabama education. As your representative on the State Board of Education I pledge my support to maintaining high academic standards in Alabama public schools while keeping the federal government out.
