Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) released a statement on a recent proposal to stop all Muslims from entering the United States:

"The United States is a nation founded on the principles of liberty and freedom. Any attempt to ban individuals from entering the country based solely on their religion goes against our deepest American values.

"Now more than ever, we cannot tolerate this type of fear-mongering in our political discourse. It is damaging to our national security efforts and our fight against international terrorism.

"I join with my Democratic colleagues in Congress in condemning this language. Further, I applaud the Philadelphia City Council's stance today to reject the recent hateful acts of prejudice in our community. This intolerance has no place in Philadelphia, or the United States."
