Rep. Sam Farr, D-Calif., issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1314, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015:

"The Republican Leadership finally listened to the adults in the room. For too long, we have watched the chaos on the other side of the aisle throw our country from one crisis to another. In his final days in office, Speaker Boehner let the cooler heads prevail and negotiated a bipartisan bill with the Democrats.

"I have some concerns over the proposed changes to the crop insurance program that could reduce the types of polices available to Central Coast growers and will work to stop those changes in the upcoming omnibus.

"While this deal is not perfect, it prevents a government default on our debt, removes the harmful sequester caps, protects seniors from a hike in Medicare rates and extends Social Security disability benefits. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am excited to be able to do my job again and work on reasonable spending bills that invest in America's future."
