Statement

Date: Dec. 18, 2015
Location: Raleigh, NC

Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory hosted an open house at the Executive Mansion today for people who contributed to the Rescue Christmas Tree located in the Sun Room of the residence. The Tree is a part of three decorative themes used throughout the Executive Mansion this year to highlight the first lady's initiatives of supporting men, women and children in shelters, as well as military families and pet adoption.

Contributing to the Rescue Christmas Tree and attending today's open house were members of the North Carolina Council for Women, staff, volunteers and residents from the Durham Rescue Mission and representatives from various shelters located across North Carolina.

"Supporting men, women and children in shelters throughout our state who have overcome terrible situations like domestic violence, mental health and addiction is an issue close to the heart of me and the first lady," said Governor Pat McCrory. "Especially during the holidays, we encourage supporting shelters like the Durham Rescue Mission throughout North Carolina in any way possible."
