Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released a statement following the Department of Labor's report that the economy added 211,000 jobs in November:
"We've had two good pieces of job news this week: we continue to experience the longest stretch of job growth in the history of our country, with November marking 69 consecutive months of private sector job growth
"And the jobs report comes just one day after we passed the first long-term transportation bill in a decade -- with strong bipartisan support. Hardworking men and women can go to work knowing that they can continue building the roads and bridges that help our economy grow.
"Unfortunately, my Republican colleagues are now leading us to the brink of another important deadline, signaling that they'll attach their unrelated social agenda to a budget bill. In just four legislative days, we could face a government shutdown without action. I urge my Republican colleagues to work with us, and let's invest in programs that support middle-class families."
