In order to help retain and attract healthcare providers in medically underserved communities, Governor Maggie Hassan announced that the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has established a policy regarding the submission of the Governor-Designated and Secretary-Certified (GDSC) shortage area designation for purposes of certifying rural health clinic sites.
"The health and well-being of our people is critical to vibrant communities and a thriving economy, and we must ensure that all Granite Staters -- regardless of where they live -- have access to primary care and other critical health services," Governor Hassan said. "By offering an additional designation option for providers to qualify for rural health clinic status, we can increase access to critical health services in underserved areas of the state."
