Congressman Sarbanes (D-Md.) issued the following statement today regarding the recent violence against Israeli citizens:

"In recent days, vicious attacks on Israelis have intensified. I join my colleagues in condemning these terrible acts and call upon President Abbas and other Palestinian officials to quell such violence rather than continuing to incite it. These officials must be reminded that the United States will stand ever firm in support of Israeli security, which is the baseline requirement for a two-state solution."
