Van Hollen Statement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Deal

Statement

Date: Oct. 6, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

Congressman Chris Van Hollen (MD-08) released the following statement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership:

"The TPP deal that is emerging is a fatally flawed pact that does not adequately protect Maryland jobs, the environment, and workers' rights. Any trade deal must pass the test of boosting American jobs and wages. This deal fails that test. Our trading partners will still be able to manipulate their currency and hurt our economy and American workers. Free trade must be fair trade for American workers and consumers. We should not approve an agreement that fails to meet that standard."
