Rep. Ellison Statement on Trans-Pacific Partnership Negotiations

Statement

Date: Aug. 2, 2015
Location: Minneapolis, MN

Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) released the following statement after negotiators for the 12 countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership failed to finalize a deal in Maui.

"The failure of negotiators to come to an agreement is a signal that fundamental problems remain in the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The next hurdle is ensuring that patients continue to have access to affordable, life-saving drugs.

"American families deserve trade deals that put workers first, stop currency manipulation to protect American jobs, and ensure food and safety standards. "The most progressive trade deal the world has ever seen' must not be another NAFTA that destroys jobs and fails to protect the environment and human rights."
