Jones Votes Against Spending Bill

Press Release

Date: Sept. 30, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) voted against H.R. 719 -- a Senate-passed spending bill that would fund federal government operations through December 11th, 2015 at an annualized rate of $1.017 trillion. The bill includes no meaningful cuts to the federal deficit, which currently clocks in at over $400 billion a year. The bill would continue to provide taxpayer money for abortions at Planned Parenthood. In fact, according to conservative think tank Heritage Action, during the 72 days of federal funding provided by this bill, Planned Parenthood will perform more than 70,000 abortions nationwide. H.R. 719 also continues to provide funding for several of President Obama's most controversial initiatives including Obamacare, amnesty for illegal aliens, and the resettlement of thousands of "refugees" from the Middle East. The President is expected to sign the bill into law in the next 24 hours.

"Once again the Congress has caved and given President Obama everything he wanted," said Congressman Jones. "This legislation does nothing to stop the taxpayer-funded taking of innocent life, the flood of Middle Eastern refugees living off the American taxpayers, deficit-financed foreign aid, executive amnesty for illegal aliens, billions of dollars for unauthorized wars, and billions of dollars of more deficit spending. It's time for this Congress to stop doing what's convenient, and start doing what's right."
