Feinstein Statement on Cyber Agreement with China

Statement

Date: Sept. 25, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement regarding the announcement that the United States and China have reached an agreement on cyber warfare:

"The agreements announced today between the United States and China regarding cyber warfare represent a step forward. The most significant agreement is as follows: "The United States and China agree that neither country's government will conduct or knowingly support cyber-enabled theft of intellectual property, including trade secrets or other confidential business information, with the intent of providing competitive advantages to companies or commercial sectors.'

"There's a difference between an agreement on paper and having the Chinese government, including the People's Liberation Army, actually stop conducting and supporting cyber attacks on U.S. companies. The Senate Intelligence Committee will be paying very close attention to how faithfully this agreement is implemented."
