Rep. Bishop on Passage of Sanctuary Cities Act

Statement

In response to House passage of H.R. 3009, the Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act, Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement:

"This administration's recklessness on immigration has left a devastating impact on America. Thousands of criminal aliens are being released on our streets and sheltered from the law -- and the safety of our families and members of law enforcement has been put in jeopardy as a result.

"Sanctuary cities disregard the rule of law and threaten the welfare of our communities. While barring funding is a step toward better enforcement, our work does not end here. More must be done at both the state and federal levels to protect our citizens instead of those who choose to live beyond the law."
