Empowering States to Defund Planned Parenthood

Statement

"This bill increases the flexibility for individual states to decide whether or not they wish to allocate Medicaid money to organizations that provide abortion services. The brave whistleblower videos from this past summer have opened the eyes of a nation to atrocities being committed against the unborn. Statistics show that, in 2013 alone, over 300,000 abortions were performed by Planned Parenthood in particular. That works out to about one abortion every three minutes. Despite that, Medicaid provided $1.2 billion to Planned Parenthood in 2013. That's why we must fully defund Planned Parenthood and it clearly shows why I made the right and moral decision in voting to support H.R. 3495."
