Today, Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) released the following statement celebrating the 95th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing a woman's right to vote.

"On Women's Equality Day, we mark the progress generations of Americans have achieved for women over the last 95 years. We acknowledge the enormous gains made by America's suffragettes and supporters, who worked hard and sacrificed to ensure the rights we have today. We also recognize how far we've come and what we have to do to keep moving forward. Today, women get paid about 78 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. Today, women continue to be underrepresented in competitive science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Let's mark this occasion by recommitting to close the gender wage gap, create educational opportunity, and ensure equality for all Americans."
