Location: West Chester, PA

From a well-stocked warehouse along Phoenixville Pike in Charlestown Township, more than a dozen employees at JA Moody work every day to help keep the U.S. naval fleet afloat.

The small, veteran-owned company recently welcomed Congressman Ryan Costello to its facility to meet with employees and learn more about the integral role the company plays in bolstering our country's military readiness.

Costello, who serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee and is on the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee, toured the warehouse where shelves extending from the floor to the ceiling are filled with valves and parts used for main propulsion units, ventilation systems and firefighting equipment naval vessels depend upon to keep seawater out and critical systems functioning while ships are at sea. In addition to supplying the Navy, the company distributes parts that support the Coast Guard and the Military Sealift Command fleets.

Costello noted that small companies such as JA Moody have a huge impact on jobs and our country's defense capabilities, in addition to providing opportunities for veterans.

"Visiting JA Moody underscored the fact that we have an extremely skilled workforce and companies at the forefront of innovation directly contributing to the local economy and to our national defense," stated Congressman Costello. "It is critical that we have continued funding for the U.S. Navy fleet to not only create jobs in Southeastern Pennsylvania, but to maintain a forward presence to deter aggression, ensure stability and protect our national security. JA Moody is a prime example of a veteran-owned business and the need to create economic opportunities for our returning service men and women."

Lisa Smith, Executive Vice President at JA Moody, applauded Congressman Costello for taking the time to visit the company founded in the 1950's.

"We really appreciate the opportunity to host Congressman Costello at our facility to show him the work we are doing and the role that we play in the construction of U.S. Navy amphibious warships," Smith said. "Continued funding for the construction of these Navy ships is vital to the survival of our business and many others like ours. Today we were able to discuss our contribution to the Navy-Marine Corps team with the Congressman and emphasize the importance of funding to our local economy and our national security."
