Hire More Heroes Act, Top Republican Priority, Becomes Law

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after President Obama signed H.R. 3236, which includes the Hire More Heroes Act, a top priority for the new Congress and the first jobs bill passed by the House this year:

"Starting today, it will be easier for veterans to find good-paying jobs. This new law, the Hire More Heroes Act, offers small businesses much-needed relief from ObamaCare mandates that make it harder to hire veterans. The unemployment rate among recent veterans remains higher than the national average, and of course, we owe it to them to make sure they have every opportunity to earn a good living. This is the first jobs bill that the House passed this year, and it is the latest example of how we're getting things done for the American people. My congratulations go to Rodney Davis, who introduced this bill after hearing from a veterans advocate in his district. We have much more to do when it comes to helping our veterans, but this is progress."
