Rubio: Export-Import Bank Should Not Be Revived In Highway Debate

Statement

Date: July 9, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today regarding growing concerns that a measure reviving the recently expired Export-Import Bank will be included in the Senate's coming debate on highway transportation legislation:‎

"I strongly oppose any effort to attach a reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank to a highway bill. The bank is a conduit for taxpayer-subsidized corporate welfare that allows federal government bureaucrats to pick winners and losers in the marketplace. The bank's charter has expired, and it should stay closed for business. Congress should reject any effort to resuscitate it by attaching a reauthorization to a highway bill or any other "must pass' bill being considered."
