Booker Statement on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) Procedural Vote

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., issued the following statement regarding today's Senate procedural vote on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA):

"I would have voted no today because I believe that these four important trade bills should be considered together, not separately. I have strong concerns about TPA more broadly, and my concerns are compounded if fast track moves forward without the customs trade enforcement package already passed out of the Finance Committee. This customs enforcement bill includes critically important provisions for workers -- from currency manipulation remedies to creation of an interagency trade enforcement center. These are the kinds of policies that will allow American workers to compete on a level playing field with workers across the globe and benefit from trade, not suffer because of it."

Booker will miss this afternoon's vote because he is in transit to Washington, DC, after traveling to spend time with a close family member who has fallen ill. Booker will be present for the remainder of the week.
