U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced nearly $150,000 in federal funding for scientific research at North Dakota State University (NDSU).
These funds, authorized through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, will be used to support research that uses nanotechnology to find solutions to societal challenges and address key national, regional and multi-state problems important to sustaining all components of food and agriculture.
"These funds are important because they provide opportunities for more North Dakota students to engage in scientific research and make sure they receive a top-notch education," said Heitkamp. "In addition, they will help address pressing and important research questions related to food and agriculture -- a backbone industry in North Dakota. I'll continue to support investments like this one because educational research will help our state remain competitive and enable our future leaders to be successful."
These funds are part of a total of $3.8 million in federal funding being nationally invested in nanotechnology research.
