Bennet Statement on DAPA Day of Action

Press Release

Date: May 19, 2015
Location: Denver, CO
Issues: Immigration

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement in recognition of efforts in Denver and across the country in support of Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA):

"Today's day of action is an important effort in the fight to fix our broken immigration system. Although the Senate was able to pass a bipartisan immigration reform bill the House of Representatives has not acted on the bill or any alternative. The President has used his executive authority to help millions of families stay together through the DAPA and DACA initiatives, but now a misguided legal challenge is delaying the implementation of even these reforms. Every day that we fail to enact immigration reform we jeopardize our economy, our safety, and our communities. We applaud this nationwide effort today, and we will continue to fight for a long-term solution."

Today faith, labor, business, and immigration rights organizations across the country organized in support of DAPA and DACA which have been placed on hold due to a legal challenge. In Denver, Mi Familia Vota held a press conference and rally.
