U.S. Military Commanders to Testify Before Congress

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis: Vote to adopt an amendment to HR 3326 that requires certain United States Military Commanders and other officials to provide Congressional testimony on meeting U.S. military objectives in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Official Title of Legislation: Amdt 2575: To provide for testimony before Congress on the additional forces and resources required to meet United States objectives with respect to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Highlights: -Requires the Commander of the of the U.S. Central Command (General David Petraeus), the Commander of the U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Command, Europe (Admiral James G. Stavridis), the Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan (General Stanley McChrystal), and the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan (Karl Eikenberry) to provide Congressional testimony regarding recommendations for additional forces and resources needed in Afghanistan and Pakistan no later than November 15, 2009.
