Constitutional Amendment to Define Marriage

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis: Vote to pass a joint resolution that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters that legally recognizes marriage as a union between one man and one woman, regardless of where the marriage was entered into.
NOTE: AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION REQUIRES TWO-THIRDS APPROVAL IN EACH CHAMBER FOR PASSAGE. IT MUST THEN BE APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF CITIZENS VOTING IN THE NEXT ELECTION TO BECOME EFFECTIVE.
Official Title of Legislation: HJ 17: A Joint Resolution proposing to amend the Wyoming Constitution by creating a new section specifying that a marriage between a man and a woman shall be the only legal union that shall be valid or recognized in Wyoming.
