"The Environment Council of Rhode Island (ECRI) is a coalition of over 60 Rhode Island organizations as well as individuals whose mission is to serve as an effective voice for developing and advocating policies and laws that protect and enhance the environment. "The Council embodies and promotes the vision that together we can build an ecologically healthy future in a sustainable economy. ECRI provides its members with a forum for sharing information and technical expertise, and provides policymakers and the public with informed opinions and position statements. "ECRI was founded in 1972 and we are the successor organization to the Rhode Island Wildlife Federation which was founded in 1938. The National Wildlife Federation was founded in 1936."
