"Founded in 1973, Nebraska Right to Life is a statewide, non-partisan, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization established to serve groups and individuals who wish to effectively defend the most basic of all human rights - the right to life. The ultimate goal of Nebraska Right to Life is to restore legal protection to innocent human life. The primary interest of Nebraska Right to Life and its members has been the abortion controversy; however, it is also concerned with related matters of medical ethics which relate to the right to life issues of euthanasia and infanticide. Nebraska Right to Life does not have a position on issues such as contraception, sex education, capital punishment, and national defense. It is our belief that the protection of human life can only be achieved through a unified, statewide educational and legislative effort that is coordinated with an effective national program. Nebraska Right to Life is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, in Washington D.C., with representation on the national board. NRL and its local chapters adhere to the philosophy of National Right to Life Committee. We are committed to working through legal, peaceful means to effect change, in state and federal legislation, education and political action. This commitment is derived from a belief that each human being, from the time of fertilization to natural death, has an immeasurable dignity and unalienable right to life. Elemental justice demands that this basic right be protected by law. Nebraska Right to Life is governed by a board of directors composed of members from across the state of Nebraska. NRL coordinates activities of local chapters sharing the commitment to the protection of each individual's basic right to life. In particular, NRL initiates and coordinates educational activities in order to foster a true respect for all human life; initiates and supports political, legal and legislative efforts so that the full protection of the laws of our state and nation will once again be afforded to all human beings; and coordinates Nebraska pro-life activities with those of other states and the nation as whole. In addition to maintaining a lobbying presence at the state level, Nebraska Right to Life serves as a clearinghouse of information for its local chapters, its individual members, the press, and the public. Our mission is to make abortion, infanticide and euthanasia ethically and legally unacceptable solutions to social and economical problems."
