VOTER REGISTRATION


Registration Deadline: You may register online or in-person at your county clerk's office up to 7 days before the election. You will not be eligible to participate in early voting but you will be able to vote on election day. If sent by mail, it must be postmarked at least 30 days before an election to be eligible to vote in that election.


Party Affiliation: Utah law permits political parties to choose whether to allow unaffiliated voters or voters not registered with the party to participate in their nominating contests before each election cycle.


 


VOTER REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS


Age: Must be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day


Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen


Residency: Must be a resident of Utah for at least 30 days immediately before Election Day


ID Requirements: One of the following is required:


  -A Utah driver license number;


  -A Utah state identification number; or


  -Utah concealed carry permit


  -U.S. passport


  -Tribal I.D. card (does not need a photograph)


 If you do not have either a Utah driver license or state identification card, please write "none" in the space designated for a Utah driver license or state identification number and fill in your social security number.


 


OBTAINING A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM


Online: Utah Online Voter Registration


In person: A voter may register to vote in person at the county clerks office up to 7 days before the election. Early voters will only be eligible to vote on election day and not during the early voting period.


Registration forms are also available at State Agency Offices, including the Drivers License Division, Division of Workforce Services, Utah State Department of Health, Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Offices, the Division of Services for People with Disabilities, the Department of Rehabilitation, and public colleges and universities.


By mail/ in writing: Voters may download a Utah, Salt Lake County, or National voter registration form. Any form, once completed, may be mailed to your county clerk's office and postmarked no later than 30 days before the next election.

ABSENTEE BALLOT QUALIFICATIONS


Who can vote absentee: Any person who is registered to vote may vote by absentee ballot.


 


OBTAINING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT


Online: Utah Absentee Downloadable Ballot Application or apply completely online using the online voter registration/absentee ballot form.


In person: Completed absentee forms should be submitted to your local county clerk.


By Mail: Completed absentee forms should be submitted to your local county clerk.

SUBMITTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT


Location and time: The county clerk must receive the absentee ballot application no later than the Thursday before the election.
