Summary

Present Constitution provides for a three-year redemption period after the date of recordation of the tax sale for property sold at a tax sale. Further provides for an eighteen-month redemption period after the date of recordation of the tax sale in
the city of New Orleans for residential or commercial property sold at a tax sale which is abandoned or blighted.

Proposed Constitutional Amendment provides for an eighteen-month redemption period after the date of recordation of the tax sale for vacant residential or commercial property sold at a tax sale which has been declared blighted or abandoned on January 1, 2013 in any parish other than Orleans Parish.
