The Committee serves as a forum for Rep. Kinzinger to hear from members of the agriculture community across the district on their policy concerns. "The Agriculture Advisory Committee is a great way for me to learn more about the issues directly impacting Illinois farmers," said Kinzinger. "These are the people best equipped to help come up with solutions for the Ag community. It's important to me to hear what they have to say so I can give them a voice in Washington." Rep. Kinzinger listens to an Ag representative form the Sixteenth District Held in Ottawa's City Hall building, the meeting covered topics such as the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA), the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), funding for roads and highways, immigration, EPA over-regulation, and rail issues. This was the second meeting of the committee, which consists of farmers and producers from all 14 counties in the Sixteenth District. The committee also holds tele-conferences and local meetings throughout the year. Farming employs nearly 1 million people in Illinois, and it represents 12% of the state's economy.
