Pro-lifeCandidate AnswerDo you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Other or expanded principles

It is my feeling that any woman facing an unplanned pregnancy needs access to a support network. As a father of two children, I am personally opposed to abortion. It is my opinion that supporting the continuance of education and health programs is the best way to help women avoid unplanned pregnancies.

NoIn order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
NoCandidate AnswerIn order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Other or expanded principles

I do not believe that reducing defense spending or increasing taxes is necessary to balance the federal budget. I believe that Congress should adopt a ?No Budget, No Pay? amendment that would make it a requirement for Congress to pass a balanced budget on time. If Congress fails to pass a balanced budget, they should lose their pay for every day they default. This law will provide an incentive for Members of Congress to give the task of balancing the budget the attention it deserves.

NoDo you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Other or expanded principles
YesDo you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
YesDo you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
Other or expanded principles
NoCandidate AnswerDo you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
YesDo you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Other or expanded principles

I believe that tax incentives should be available to businesses who hire our nation?s Veterans. It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to help Veterans assimilate back into society.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
Other or expanded principles

I do not support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to receive federal grants. I believe that the only way to ensure that our children receive an education that gives them the best opportunity for achievement is by tailoring its curriculum to their specific needs. In order to achieve this the federal government needs to empower state and local communities instead of attempting to implement a uniform curriculum.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
NoDo you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
Other or expanded principles

The state of California is known for its excellence in protecting the environment while maintaining its energy independence. The regulations in California promote safety throughout the state and are the highest in the nation. I would support federal legislation that is modeled after the state of California.

YesDo you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Other or expanded principles

While I do believe that human activity has contributed to climate change I cannot say with any authority how significant this impact has been. In an effort to limit or reverse this effect I believe there should be emissions limits on existing coal-fired power plants. I also support legislation that treats carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as pollutants.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you generally support gun-control legislation?
Other or expanded principles

I do support legislation that aims to improve access to mental health programs as a way to end gun violence in America. I do not support legislation that violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and takes away the rights of responsible gun owners. In order to keep our community safe it is in the best interest of the people to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Other or expanded principles

As it currently stands, Obamacare will continue to increase the burdensome regulations and taxes that are imposed on small businesses, a sector which employs over 50% of our country?s workforce. This negatively affects both our local and national economies and causes unemployment to rise. Ultimately, it should not be up to the government to decide what type of healthcare coverage is best for every individual, it should be up to the people to determine what type of health coverage they need based on their individual circumstances.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Other or expanded principles

I believe that illegal immigrants who are in the process of obtaining citizenship should not be required to return to their country of origin. However, if the illegal immigrants are not working toward citizenship then yes, I believe they should be required to return to their country of origin.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support same-sex marriage?
Other or expanded principles

I believe every individual is entitled to their own happiness. While same-sex marriage contradicts my personal view, I realize it is the law of the land and I am respectful of the law.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
YesShould the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Other or expanded principles

First and foremost, the U.S. military?s primary purpose is to defend and protect the American people and American interests against attack. In order to be successful, the United States must work to eliminate terrorist threats and organizations that threaten the security of our nation. If given the opportunity, the United States must go to any length necessary to defeat these terrorist groups. When required they must fight and win wars to preserve national security.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Other or expanded principles

The Social Security program provides critical benefits to the elderly population in the United States. This program must be preserved for the future generations of retirees in our country. I support legislation that allows individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into a personal retirement account as long as they are not able to use this money before their retirement date.

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.

If elected to Congress my number one priority will be amending our current federal budget requirements. I believe one of the biggest motivators to hold Congress accountable is their paycheck. If Congress can?t work together to pass an on-time, balanced budget, they should not get paid.

I support a No Budget, No Pay law. If the federal budget is not passed on time all members of Congress should lose their pay every day until one is passed. Paychecks should not go on hold in an escrow account where they will collect it later; Congress Members should never receive that pay.
