What is the Political Courage Test?
This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.

Congressional Election 2006 National Political Awareness Test

The Political Courage Test asks candidates which items they will support if elected. It does not ask them to indicate which items they will oppose. Through extensive research of public polling data, we discovered that voters are more concerned with what candidates would support when elected to office, not what they oppose. If a candidate does not select a response to any part or all of any question, it does not necessarily indicate that the candidate is opposed to that particular item.

The U.S. must evaluate progress in Iraq continually so we can consider policy adjustments. The U.S. has focused on training Iraqi security forces and encouraging the formation of a unity government. Success in these areas could help stabilize the country. In the end, a stable Iraq will require Iraqis to identify less with their sectarian group and embrace the concept of an Iraqi state.
The United States must continue to insist that the new Palestinian government renounce terrorism and violence and recognize Israel's right to exist in peace.

Energy security, weapons of mass destruction, and education are critical issues. Energy is the currency through which erergy-rich countries leverage their interests. We must make changes to our policies to ensure our future security. Nunn-Lugar is 60% through the job of securing and disposing nuclear material in Russia. We must continue these efforts and also destroy chemical and biological weapons. Education remains an area of critical focus as we prepare our children for the future.
