What is the Political Courage Test?

Oklahoma State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test

This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.

The Political Courage Test asks candidates which items they will support if elected. It does not ask them to indicate which items they will oppose. Through extensive research of public polling data, we discovered that voters are more concerned with what candidates would support when elected to office, not what they oppose. If a candidate does not select a response to any part or all of any question, it does not necessarily indicate that the candidate is opposed to that particular item.

State sales taxes on groceries should be eliminated. As sales taxes are the major source of funding for cities and towns these should continue so that towns and cities will have the money they need to provide basic services.

Concerning minors accused of violent crimes, the particular crime as well as the age of the minor should be considered. A yes or no answer to this question is really not an adequate response.

Legislative Priorities
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.

Education is one of my top priorities. We need to get back to the basics. The skill of reading should be emphasized in all grades, especially K-3. If you can read, you can learn. Standards should be high and if they are not attained, the child should not be passed. Educated citizens are less involved in crime and enhance the job pool. Down sizing government and eliminating government waste is another priority. The people's money should be spent wisely. Also, economic development that encourages free enterprise should be promoted so that jobs will be created.
