What is the Political Courage Test?

Wisconsin State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test

The Political Courage Test asks candidates which items they will support if elected. It does not ask them to indicate which items they will oppose. Through extensive research of public polling data, we discovered that voters are more concerned with what candidates would support when elected to office, not what they oppose. If a candidate does not select a response to any part or all of any question, it does not necessarily indicate that the candidate is opposed to that particular item.

Simply attempting to punish employers who hire illegal immigrants will not resolve the complex issues surrounding our broken immigration system. We must insist that the U.S. Congress and the President address this issue and come to a fair and equitable system of immigration.

Attempting to have states and local governments tackle these complex issues does nothing to solve the overall immigration crisis. In my view, they only make matter worse for employers and taxpayers. Enforcement of immigration laws is the prevue of the federal government and we must use our collective voices to push them to fix this system.

Legislative Priorities
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.

I am working to put more police on the streets and people real alternatives to the street. We also need to do more to protect the working men and women who built our neighborhoods. We need to expand neighborhood health care services, keep taxes low and make medicines more affordable.

As Milwaukee?s voice in the State Assembly on many budget issues, I worked hard last year to find $27 million in new public education funding. I?m especially proud to support veterans with $32 million to help our men and women in uniform pursue a higher education degree.
