PA has failed to fund Higher education at even the rate of inflation. We must dedicate resources to insure the uninsured and respond to the dramatic cuts in Federal Funds for Medicaid. Mass Transit in our cities has faced significant cuts in service and as fuel costs surge and traffic congestion becomes more sever and air quality deteriorates we need to make certain that these systems are viable. Road and bridge infrastructure maintenance has been defered far too long. |

I support commonsense gun laws that target illegal gun trafficing including making it mandatory to report a lost or stolen hand gun and limiting gun purchase to one per month by an individual. I also support legislation banning the sale of assault style weapons. These laws would not violate the 2nd amendment and infact are law in a number of states. |

Continue to work on expanding access, improving quality and lowering the cost of health care. Expanding civil rights protections under PA's Human Relations act to include sexual orientation and gender identity. Insuring that PA inacts a comprehensive smoking ban. And enacting commonsense gun laws that enhance the capacity of law enforcement officers to protect Pennsylvanians. Additional funding for health care should include an increase in the cigarette tax and placing a tax on smokeless tobacco products and cigars which are currently tax exempt only in Pennsylania and taxed in 49 other states. |
