Presidential Election 2012 Political Courage Test

Pro-choiceCandidate AnswerDo you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Other or expanded principles

Personally, I am an advocate of encouraging alternatives to abortion, and sponsoring adoption programs over abortion any time; however, the practical position is to allow woman or couple to make the decision of performing an abortion if that is required for the circumstances that the woman or couple are in. Though I do stand the right to choose, I am not an advocate of government sponsored abortion plans in any form other than medical emergency.

Budget

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget.

In order to balance the budget,

YesCandidate Answerdo you support reducing defense spending?
YesCandidate Answerdo you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
YesCandidate Answerdo you support reducing Medicaid spending?
YesCandidate Answerdo you support reducing Medicare spending?
YesCandidate AnswerIs balancing the budget an administrative priority?
Other or expanded principles

I encourage across the board spending cuts in every government program except education. I furthermore encourage action to be taken on tax reform. Priority is to close all tax loop holes and begin a national sales tax on all items except healthy foods. One part of the national tax would be strictly to paying down the national debt, and the other part would be to subsidize Social Security. I would create a standard progressive tax rate of 5, 10, and 20 percent on low, medium, and high end income. Also encourage increasing inheritance tax.

Indicate what federal spending levels (#1-6) you support for the following general categories. Select one number per category; you can use a number more than once.

Greatly Decreaseg) International aid
Greatly Decreaseh) Medical Research
Greatly Decreasei) Scientific Research
Eliminatej) Space exploration
Eliminatek) United Nations
Slightly Decreasel) Welfare
Slightly Increasem) Other or expanded categories

Infrastructure, education, disaster preparedness/response and social security . Those are the only categories of increased spending that I believe should be taking place. All other categories of government spending should be greatly reduced or eliminated. Furthermore, I greatly emphasize slashing elected officials pay grades in half. Elected positions are for true public servants that except those positions based on the service experience they can provide for the people that they represent.

I encourage eliminating all corporate, income, or other revenue generating loop holes. No write offs at all until the budget is balanced. Create a standard 5% national sales tax on all transactions of sales and create standard no deduction system of income tax: 5, 10, 20 percent on low, medium, and high end income. Close all corporate tax loop holes and make it standard for any business entity making over a 5 million dollars a year to pay a standard 15 percent tax rate. No deductions allowed until the current budget deficit is balanced and s.s system secured.

YesDo you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Other or expanded principles

Indeed over haul of the current campaign system needs to take place. I emphasize all candidates must pool all contributions together and split the proceeds to all candidates in a equal fashion. Then it is emphasized that the election process can only last for 3 months leading up to elections. Very simple solution. Furthermore, I emphasize changing the election day to a Saturday to allow more people that work during the week to vote at more of a convenience to them.

NoDo you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Other or expanded principles

No, I do not encourage the death penalty. I do encourage life long service (certain work tasks) and optional medical research on violent offenders. There are too many human errors that occur in the current judicial system to allow for the chance of an innocent person to be executed.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
NoDo you support the 2010 temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
NoDo you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
Other or expanded principles

I encourage business work programs that reward businesses with incentives to hire unemployed benefit recipients. The minimum time span to train a qualified employee is a year. There should be incentive to hire employees that other wise would receive unemployment benefits. Thus, businesses are rewarded monetarily (not tax deductions) for hiring workers that would otherwise be receiving unemployment benefits.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
Other or expanded principles

Yes, in some sense. More insight from education experts and parents of students needs to be explored. For the most part, less over sight is better. However, the end result is how many students graduate and receive quality paying jobs, and how many of those students end up going to college and obtaining meaningful degrees that will provide higher paying jobs. Those are the end results. If the schools fail to meet the previously discussed criteria they lose funding. Those schools that lose funding have the option of private institutions filling in. Same for home schooled programs.

YesDo you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
Other or expanded principles

Yes, simply the high restriction is that if a company fouls up (causes any environmental damage), they are permanently removed from doing business in the U.S anywhere again. The U.S waters and lands are too precious for mistakes of only business. Yes, off shore drilling is tolerable to some extent; however, for every dollar a company performs on off shore drilling they must invest equal amount of money into strictly independent alternative energy research and a portion of the profits from off shore drilling will go to alternative energy research.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
NoDo you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
Other or expanded principles

Remove troops ASAP. I support more strict strategic operations where there are no ground troops in any other country for more than 3 months. If an operation can't be performed in that time frame, then the operation is cut. Furthermore, if there isn't a way to get the air conditioning bills down to less than 1 billion a year for the troops tents then absolutely no more wars in hot regions. May sound dumb or cruel, but Americans deserve more ingenuity coming out of wars that cost enough to get every U.S citizen out of debt and out of poverty.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
Other or expanded principles

Yes and no. I support a 24 hour waiting period before a hand gun or hunting rifle can be purchased. Any other weapon of higher caliber a special license and background check must be performed. Any person has the right to any form of arm as long as they pass strict license procedures and pass psychological screening. A U.S citizen has the right to bear any and every form of arm as long as they are of sound mind and reason and responsibility.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
NoCandidate AnswerShould individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Other or expanded principles

I support some form of national health care reform and I believe many of the stipulations within the 2010 Affordable Care Act are excellent. However, there are several reforms within the act that must be changed and modified for the Act to be sustainable.

NoCandidate AnswerDo you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
YesDo you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
NoDo you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
Other or expanded principles

I believe that the choice of freedom should be accessible to all aliens that are truly wanting to contribute and be U.S citizens. Part of that choice is paying into the system before they obtain citizenship and are allowed to stay in the United States. Mandatory 1 year service on the part of aliens 18 and older. As well, they are required to learn proficient English by the end of the 1 year service. The service includes infrastructure labor projects and/or other community building service. After the one year service, they and their children are allowed to have citizenship.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support same-sex marriage?
Other or expanded principles

Same sex partners may have all the legal exemptions as opposite sex marriages. However, I believe the status of these unions should not be recognized as a fully defined marriage, rather, they should be defined as "unions." The state of "marriage" should be only defined as between man and women. However, legal statements involving the term "union" is interchangeable with "marriage." Furthermore, it must strictly be enforced that the term marriage is reserved definitionally for man and woman with respect for a tradition as true as the colors of the U.S flag remaining red, white and blue.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Other or expanded principles
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.

A main priority would be to restructure the tax system. Close all loop holes to corporate and income taxes and create a progressive non deductible tax system. Furthermore, I would support initializing a national sales tax to go to nothing other than securing social security and paying down the national deficit; furthermore, support those actions to be amended constitutional . As well, I would eliminate across the board all government programs except education, social security, and disaster relief/prevention. And above all, I would make it primary to eliminate all child poverty in the U.S.A.
