Colorado must address fiscal reforms that provide adequate and stable funding for core government services. Our tax policy currently does not meet this goal, and conflicting constitutional restrictions and mandates hinder the legislature's ability to balance our budget while meeting demand for government serivces. We must build consensus around fiscal policy and win voter approval for needed reforms.

Criminal justice reform has been a key focus of legislation I sponsor. We wouldn't spend as much on prisons if we were smarter about sentencing alternatives for offenders with behavioral health issues. Drug treatment is cheaper and more effective than prison.
