Yes c) Instituting mandatory furloughs and layoffs for state employees
No d) Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients
Yes e) Privatizing certain government services
My views on healthcare cost is that it can be controlled without tax increases. I would push for legislation that would create market-driven interstate competition among health insurers, TORT reform with malpractice limits. A patients bill rights with the price of services should be made available for the consumer. I believe K-12 education can be made more efficient through downsizing the state department of education and return more of the decision-making to each local district. I would also look at replacing the unconstitutional use of property taxes with some form of state sales tax.
I am in favor of the elimination of the state income tax or switch to a 2-3% flat state income tax. I believe the entire Ohio tax code is in need of complete overhaul in order to make Ohio more business friendly through the elimination of redundant and outdated taxes. I would also push for legislation to protect Ohio citizens from estate taxes.
I am in favor of reducing the school and state employee work week to four days and eliminate the observance of paid federal holidays. These reductions would result in a 20% savings statewide. I believe that the cost of higher education could be reduced by the elimination or consolidation of some of the public universities. As for state run facilities like parks and recreation areas, I believe they should be privatized.

c) Do you support limits on the following types of contributions to candidates for state government?

Yes a) Do you support limits on the number of terms for Ohio governors?
Yes b) Do you support limits on the number of terms for Ohio state legislators?
Yes 1) Individual
Yes 2) Political Action Committee
Yes 3) Corporate
Yes 4) Political Party
No d) Should candidates for state office be encouraged to meet voluntary spending limits?
Yes e) Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information?
I believe by controlling all kinds of contributions, candidates will beholden to the beliefs of their constituents and not lobbyist or political parties.
Yes a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes b) Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
No c) Should the possession of small amounts of marijuana be decriminalized?
No d) Should minors accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as adults?
No e) Should minors who send sexually-explicit or nude photos by cell phone face criminal charges?
Yes f) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
b) With limits on repeat offenses. c) We already have an epidemic of people being maimed or killed by drunk drivers. I believe the legalization of marijuana would lead to an increase of substance abuse, thus the state would have more substance abuse related accidents and deaths. d) & e) I am not against minors being judged as adults, however, I believe each case would have to be judged on the circumstances of each crime. f) I am in full support of Arizona enforcing their own immigration laws, since they are basically the same as federal law.
Yes a) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
No b) Do you support increased state funding for job-training programs that re-train displaced workers?
Yes c) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
No d) Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation?
Yes e) Do you support increased spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
No f) Do you support the construction of passenger rail lines between Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati?
No g) Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure?
Item a) I believe state and federal regulations are a large reason for the flight of businesses from Ohio. Item c) I think that if the state increases their unemployment benefits for an individual, in return for this compensation, he or she should be required to do work in their communities. Item d) The only incentives I believe that should be offered by the government are in the form of tax reductions. Item e) Since the government is constitutionally obligated for the maintaining our infrastructure, I would not be completely against this type of job creation.
No a) Do you support national education standards?
No b) Do you support requiring public schools to administer high school exit exams?
No c) Do you support adding more days to Ohio's 180-day school calendar?
No d) Do you support using a merit pay system for teachers?
Yes e) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
No f) Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid?
No g) Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Ohio high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
Item a) I believe that each local district should be responsible for their school's curriculum and standards. However, I will pursue legislation that will make Ohio Civics and American Government mandatory in grades 7th, 9th and 11th. Item c) I am in favor of expanding the school day by 90 minutes and have a four-day school week. This would reduce school budgets by 20% and it would include calamity days within the school year. Item e) I am for school choice. It should be up to the parents where their tax dollars go whether it be public, private or charter.
Yes a) Do you support state funding for the development of alternative energy?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for the development of traditional domestic energy sources (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil)?
No c) Do you support providing financial incentives to farms that produce biofuel crops?
Yes d) Do you support state funding for improvements to Ohio's energy infrastructure?
No e) Do you support state funding for open space preservation?
No f) Do you support enacting environmental regulations aimed at reducing the effects of climate change?
Items a & b) I would support the expansion of oil, natural gas and coal research and development in Ohio, as long as all money is invested back into Ohio ventures. I welcome the development of hydrogen technologies within Ohio's borders, as long as every tax dollar spent is directly invested in Ohio based business ventures. Item d) It is constitutional for the Ohio government to repair, maintain and replace our energy infrastructure to keep it fully functional for its citizens. Item f) I do not support any aspects of environmental regulations based on the climate change theory.
Yes a) Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
No b) Do you support requiring background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Do you support allowing individuals to carry concealed guns?
No d) Do you support requiring a license for gun possession?
I believe any laws restricting or impeding gun ownership violates the 2nd amendment of the U.S. Constitution. I will support legislation that prevents any taxation on the sales of Ohio manufactured and stamped guns within Ohio borders.
No a) Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option?
Yes b) Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform?
Yes c) Do you support interstate health insurance compacts?
No d) Should individuals be required to purchase health care insurance?
Yes e) Do you support monetary limits on damages that can be collected in malpractice lawsuits?
No f) Do you support legalizing physician-assisted suicide in Ohio?
No g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes?
Socialized medicine is completely unconstitutional. Nowhere in the constitution does it provide the U.S. government the authority to force citizens to buy any service or product. Based on the 10th amendment, in matters where powers are are not specifically given to the federal government, the states have ultimate authority to resist federal intrusion. Therefore, I will support any and all legislation that prevents government forced healthcare on the citizens of Ohio. In my platform, I support interstate competition among health insurers, TORT reform with malpractice limits and a patients bill of rights.
Yes a) Should marriage only be between one man and one woman?
No b) Should Ohio allow same-sex couples to form civil unions?
No c) Do you support state funding for stem cell research?
No d) Do you support state funding for embryonic stem cell research?
No e) Do you support the state's use of affirmative action?
Yes f) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Ohio's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes g) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Ohio's anti-discrimination laws?
Items c & d) I believe private organizations, like the March of Dimes, have had a far greater success rate in finding cures and treatments than any government agency ever has. I am not against stem cell research, however, it is my understanding that these cells can be harvested from umbilical cords and is not necessary to use embryonic cells from aborted babies. Item e) In my opinion, affirmative action has lead to the discrimination against very bright and talented people, based on numbers rather than qualifications.
When elected, my first goal is to introduce legislation, supported through the 10th amendment, that will strengthen Ohio's position as a sovereign state, in order resist unconstitutional federal laws such as socialized medicine and cap & trade. My second goal is to reduce the state budget by introducing legislation to streamline or cut unnecessary state programs. My third objective is to make Ohio business friendly by reducing the state income tax and eliminating redundant taxes. Lastly, I want to introduce a five-point hydrogen energy plan that will create a variety of new Ohio jobs and revitalize the automotive industry.
