Jesse Johnson, instrumental in helping to mobilize the Mountain Party nearly 10 years ago, and keeping the third party ballot option alive in West Virginia. He is a two time Mountain Party nominee for Governor and 2008 Green Party candidate for President. In 2004 without the benefit of any corporate financial support he received 18,430 votes (2.48%) and then in 2008 making US history as the only third party nominee for Governor to have received over 31,000 votes or 4.48% of voter support.
The only third party candidate to have ever received a historic endorsement from the Sierra Club in it's 116 years of existence.
Endorsed by the Former Senator Mike Gravel, Alaska in 2008 for Governor of WV and in 2010 for United States Senator.
Endorsed for United States Senate by Former Congressman and Secretary of State, WV, Ken Hechler. Who refers to Mr. Johnson as the "ultimate solution" for West Virginia in the fight to eliminate Mountain Top Removal Mining in WV.
